This is a recipe I have used since my Mom showed me. This was my Grandmothers and its a no roll pastry used for pies and I use it for Quiche as well, I love it, I bet this recipe is over 100 years old, so easy to make when you need just one pie crust 🙂
Grandma’s No roll pie crust
1 1/2 C Flour
1 1/2 teasp white sugar
1/4 teasp salt
Mix all above 3 ingredients into a pie plate
1/2 cup oil, 2 tablespoon milk, whip with a fork, this is very important and make sure you whip them together really good, once mixed add to pie plate with your dry ingredients.
Mix and press into pie plate, bake at 375 for baked shell until browned or follow recipe your making Enjoy !!
NOTE: I use canola oil, you can use vegetable or what ever oil you have but not coconut or olive oil
This is my Mom’s recipe and it always makes the BEST pie crust. The only way I can honour this is a picture of this recipe in her hand writing This is so easy to make and you seriously can’t mess it up and it freezes very well too.
Never Fail Pie Crust
What you need
5 cups flour
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
4 teaspoons brown sugar
1 lb lard (I use tenderflake)
1 egg beaten with 3 teaspoons white vinegar and enough water to make 3/4 cup.
In a large bowl, put in flour, baking powder, salt and sugar, add lard and with a pastry blender cut up, add your liquid, now I use my hands and get in there to mix it all up, once mixed form into 6 equal balls. This freezes very well, I just wrap them in cling wrap and put them in the freezer, when you need one or 2 take them out as needed and let thaw.
This is the BEST pie crust recipe EVER and yep Mom is right you cant fail with this one
